ECOBLAST® (Aramco approved), Ferrochrome slag is a by-product of stainless steel. It is a waste material obtained from the manufacturing of High Carbon Ferrochromium Alloy. This slag is formed as a liquid at 1700°C and its main components are SiO2, Al2O3 and MgO. Additionally, it consists of chrome, ferrous/ferric oxides and CaO. It is a synthetically manufactured mineral that replicates, as closely as possible, the physical and chemical characteristics of naturally found Garnet. It is a crushed gray, granular material, cubic or angular in shape with multiple cutting edges. Like garnet, this abrasive has a high resistance to shattering on impact which results in low dust operations compared to other expendable abrasives.
